1. Back New Haven
Promise’s Back New Haven initiative is a systemic intervention designed to meet the city’s need for a diverse, homegrown talent pipeline that strengthens neighborhoods and drives the regional economy.
From early career awareness and internships to corporate outreach and full-time career launches, Back New Haven helps scholars fulfill their “full Promise,” build intergenerational wealth, and create sustainable opportunities for New Haven’s young adults. 2. Case for Support
Back New Haven’s programs rely solely on grants and corporate sponsorships. As we are serving an ever-growing alumni population, there is an UNMET NEED to recruit additional placement sites and quadruple the annual placements.
We look to partner with corporations and service firms with deep ties to the Greater New Haven region, who demonstrate leadership and commitment to education and economic development. The corporate funding will increase a larger industry-ready homegrown talent pool and create access and opportunity for New Haven young people.

Internship, Job & Career Fair
This event connects 200+ college Scholars and Alumni with over 50 hiring agencies across the Greater New Haven region, all dedicated to offering paid internships and entry-level jobs to local talent.
Scholar Celebration
This event brings together 1,000 scholars, families, dignitaries, and community leaders to celebrate the newest cohort of college-bound Promise recipients. The program includes a pep rally, speeches, and award conferrals.
Back New Haven Night
This evening of celebration unites our leadership, business, college, and community partners—key supporters in investing in and launching our diverse, homegrown, and talented New Haven alumni.
Career Awareness Event Series
This series includes a variety of programs, such as STEM 101 for parents, career panel discussion with high schoolers, college residential experiences, pre-college courses, YNHH school to career program, etc.
Back New Haven Event Series
This series includes resume workshops, professional development lunch & learns, career affinity events, corporate meet-and-greets, financial literacy and wealth-building seminars, homebuyer workshops, and alumni networking events.
