by | May 1, 2024

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) spotlighted New Haven Promise Scholar Damarley Barrett, who is spending this summer in an internship at Yale Division of Finance. “It is made possible through the New Haven Promise program-a link he has kept since high school in Connecticut. Barrett is very active with a variety of clubs here and is the incoming vice president for the RIT chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.”

Damarley is one of many Promise Scholars attending college outside of Connecticut. While the standard New Haven Promise scholarship funds only the in-state colleges, Scholars like Damarley remain eligible for valuable career and professional development benefits—including paid summer internship opportunities. In addition to RIT, students from American University, Boston University, Brandeis, NYU, Northeastern, Springfield, Swarthmore, and Tufts have already secured summer internships through Promise.
