Paid Internships / Full-time Jobs through Promise
(Also Available to Alumni)

Started in 2014, New Haven Promise was one of the first Promise programs to launch a career program. The program’s ultimate goal is to launch you into careers that offer competitive salaries, paid vacation, and benefits.

1. The Promise Hiring Process

October - December Attend Resume Workshops, Interview Prep Workshops
December RSVP for the Internship, Job & Career Fair Upload updated resume to app.newhavenpromise.org and pick your interest career clusters
Early January Attend the Annual Promise Internship, Job & Career Fair
February - March Hiring managers will reach out and conduct interviews with prospective interns
March College seniors register with New Haven Works to begin their full-time job applications at Yale
March - May Internship offers will be extended to selected Promise Scholars
May - June Most internships begin (start dates vary) Promise Internship Orientation
July National Intern Day Celebration
August Intern Farewell Breakfast Internship evaluation Submit updated resume to app.newhavenpromise.org
September Virtual Internship Fair for positions with an early hiring timeline

2. Who is Eligible for Promise-brokered Paid Internships and Full-time Jobs

  • Career opportunities are exclusive to Promise Scholars and Alumni.
  • You must be in good standing with New Haven Promise (GPA, credits etc).
  • You must agree to the career program rules and sign the online form.
  • An updated resume must be uploaded to app.newhavenpromise.org.
  • Scholars attending out-of-state universities must submit a complete and updated academic transcript to app.newhavenpromise.org.
  • Scholars who have permanently lost their scholarship (scholarship dismissal) may participate in paid internships and career development programs if they regain good academic standing or earn a degree. You must notify Promise and provide updated transcripts.
  • Promise reserves the right to remove participants from career programs if they violate minimum standards of conduct.
  • If you believe you are eligible but not receiving the career program information, contact New Haven Promise.

3. Attend the annual Promise Internship, Job & Career Fair

Each year, over 200 Promise Scholars and Alumni attend the Internship, Job & Career Fair to connect with and impress 100+ hiring managers from more than 50 agencies across the Greater New Haven region. The fair is a CLOSED EVENT for Promise INVITEES ONLY. Scholars and alumni should not forward the invitation or share event details to uninvited guests.

RSVP

Log into the portal (app.newhavenpromise.org) under “Current Scholars”. From there, you can RSVP for the fair, upload your latest resume, sign up for a resume workshop, and update your information and career interest. You may reset your password in the “Forgot Your Password?” section.

4. Access the Promise Job Board

After the Internship, Job & Career Fair, eligible Scholars and Alumni will receive access to the Promise Job Board via email. The Job Board includes openings and job descriptions and is hosted on a PRIVATE WEBPAGE that must not be shared with anyone else. The Job Board will be updated regularly, so you should visit the page frequently.

Scholars and Alumni will inform Promise of their interest in a position(s). Promise will compile candidate pools for the hiring managers’ review.
