Promise Interns Shine: nearly $1 million earned over summer & new leaders emerging

New Haven Promise scholars are heading back to school with nearly $1 million earned from summer internships and jobs brokered by Promise’s Back New Haven initiative. Nearly 160 students contributed their talents to local businesses while gaining valuable skills for in-demand careers. Among them, Kenya Butler (SCSU ’24) advanced her nursing career after interning at Yale New Haven Health, and Janae Reid (SCSU ’24), a recent SCSU graduate, is now mentoring fellow Promise scholars while pursuing her master’s degree.
